Ben Kingsley Working on a 'Secret Marvel Project'

Was there more to the Mandarin than what Iron Man 3 let on? While some diehard Iron Man fans weren't happy with Iron Man 3's twist that (SPOILER) Ben Kingsley's version of the Mandarin was really an actor named Trevor Slattery, the actor is apparently back with Marvel on a new project.

"It's a secret Marvel project," the actor told the Belfast Telegram. "I'm not allowed to say any more, you're going to have to wait and see."

A secret project? There are a few guesses what that project could be. If Marvel is looking to keep the Trevor character around in a light way, Kingsley could be appearing in a new Marvel One Shot short. Those shorts usually appear on the blu-ray releases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

There's also a chance that Kingsley shot a scene for Agents of SHIELD. Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders have already reprised their The Avengers characters on the ABC television show. Maybe Kingsley will have a cameo on that.

The most intriguing possibility behind this secret project is that Kingsley shot one of Marvel's infamous post-credits scenes. With the exception of Iron Man 3's post-credits scene, these segments have usually set up a latter stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What if Kingsley shot a post-credit scene featuring Trevor the actor revealing he was really manipulating Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian the entire time? Marvel wants to start introducing magic into the Cinematic Universe — could they be ready to give the Mandarin ten magical rings?
