OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR STEVEN SPIELBERG'S 'LINCOLN' WANTS ALL YOUR OSCARS
After teasing us earlier in the week with a trailer for a trailer, the full-fledged trailer for Lincoln finally debuted in a Google+ Hangout tonight. If you're like the majority of the population and didn't know that Google+ Hangouts were a real thing (or that Google+ still existed), click past the jump to check out the trailer. And if you skipped the Google+ Hangout, good for you — it had some issues.
My thoughts on the Lincoln trailer? Director Steven Spielberg definitely has an Oscar-contender on his hands here, but with this subject matter and cast, that's something we all predicted months ago. What about Daniel Day-Lewis' version of Abraham Lincoln's voice? Well, I think it's going to surprise the average moviegoer. Americans have been raised with an image of Lincoln as a mighty president, and, while he may have saved America, all reports say that the guy had a thinner, Kentuckyish twang to his voice. Day-Lewis isn't the kind of actor who's going to throw out history just to give Lincoln a booming voice. I don't think you get as much of the Kentucky accent in it, but Day-Lewis' portrayal of the sixteenth president is a much softer and lighter voice.
Lincoln hits theaters on Dec. 19, 2012, and stars Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones in addition to many other well-known actors.
