Robots vs. Monsters: 'Pacific' Rim WonderCon Trailer Doesn't Hold Back on the Action

In a summer full of remakes and sequels, Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim is increasingly looking more and more like an original film that we should be really, really looking forward to. Set in a future where alien life has begun attacking Earth by coming through a trench in the Pacific Ocean, Pacific Rim's characters turn to massive robots that are controlled by some kind of mind meld to fight those monsters. Kind of a Power Rangers/Transformers/Godzilla/Avatar mashup, if you will.

Del Toro has carefully doled out new looks at Pacific Rim, with a big preview happening at WonderCon last month. Since he's a nice guy, del Toro decided to release that footage on Monday as the movie's second trailer. This movie looks massive. This movie is for anyone who grew up having their dinosaur toys fight their Transformers.

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, and yes, that's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Charlie Day playing a scientist. Watch the WonderCon trailer for Pacific Rim after the jump, and try to not get excited about this movie. It hits theaters on July 12, 2013.
