REPORT: Penelope Cruz Will Be the Next James Bond Girl in 'Skyfall' Sequel

For a movie that didn't even have a director a week ago, the next James Bond movie is coming together pretty quickly. On the heels of the news that Sam Mendes would not only return to direct the sequel to Skyfall but also the Bond film after that, Yahoo! Movies UK is now reporting that Penelope Cruz is already hammering out a contract to be the next Bond girl.

A source close to the production of the £100 million film, likely to be directed by Sam Mendes after his success with 'Skyfall', said: ‘"The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."

The Yahoo! Movies UK report also focuses a lot on the fact that Cruz will become the oldest Bond girl, turning 40 next April. Raise your hand if you've ever looked at Cruz and thought, Boy, she's old. What a dumb conversation point. I think it's cooler that Cruz will probably make some kind of Bond history becoming the first ever Bond girl married to a Bond villain. (In case you didn't know, Cruz and Javier Bardem, who earned Oscar buzz for his villainous role in Skyfall, are married.)
