Emma Watson May Join Disney's Live-Action 'Cinderella'

While Disney has Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar to pump out blockbuster films, the studio itself has struggled to find its own live-action success these past few years. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise makes a billion dollars per installment, but Disney desires to diversify beyond just that. With John Carter flopping this summer, Disney has turned to its own fairy tale vault to find a new money-maker. News broke in December that the studio was prepping a sequel to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and we're all aware of the Maleficent film starring Angelina Jolie, so what's next for Disney?

Well, if Variety's report on Friday is right, it looks like Emma Watson will be donning a pair of glass slippers in director Kenneth Branagh's live-action Cinderella film.
While the actress does not yet have the role, Watson is in very early talks with the studio to play the character in the live action adaptation that Kenneth Branagh will direct. Cate Blanchett will play the wicked stepmother.
I finally got around to watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower last weekend, and Watson was fantastic in it. In fact, the entire film was fantastic. The point is, Watson has a great career in front of her providing she chooses the right roles. Hopefully Cinderella is a good move.
