Hulk Not Smash? Mark Ruffalo Confirms That No 'Hulk' Standalone Films Are in the Works

If Avengers director and Marvel Cinematic Universe godfather Joss Whedon debunking those rumors of a Planet Hulk movie weren't enough for you, Mark Ruffalo — Bruce Banner himself — took to Twitter on Wednesday night to set the record straight.
A lot of folks have been asking about the Next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers2. No plans for stand alone. I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK. But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring.
OK, let's be realistic here. Marvel will someday give the Hulk another shot at his own movie. You don't sign a talented actor like Ruffalo to just make an appearance once in every phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially not after his portrayal of Banner and the Hulk connected with audiences in a way that Eric Bana and Ed Norton failed to do when they held the dual role. It just looks like Phase Two won't be the time when we get this movie.

I do have to wonder why The Avengers made such a big deal of Banner driving off with Tony Stark at the end of the movie. That scene made a lot of us wonder if Banner would have a role in Iron Man 3, something that appears to not be the case ... but there is the issue of the Hulkbuster Iron Man armor in the latest Iron Man 3 trailer ...
