Colin Trevorrow Begins Work on STAR WARS: EPISODE IX
Star Wars fans have been collecting Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys for only a few days, but the studio is already hard at work on the episodic installment that's two films away. Colin Trevorrow tweeted a picture of his Lucasfilm notebook on Tuesday.

Lucasfilm announced in August that Trevorrow will direct Star Wars: Episode IX. Their press release didn't mention a writer for the movie, but did call the Jurassic World helmer a "writer-director." Currently the only writer mentioned for Episode IX is Rian Johnson, but he's only been announced as writing the treatment for the movie.
It wouldn't be a surprise if Johnson wrote the treatment for Episode IX and Trevorrow then wrote the script with his Safety Not Guaranteed and Jurassic World partner Derek Connolly.
